UPDATE 3/16/16: All slots to participate in the April 20 Virtual Dementia Tour are now full.

Are you caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia? Have you ever wondered what life is like for him or her? If you’d like to learn more, sign up for the Vanderbilt Child & Family Center’s Virtual Dementia Tour on April 20.

The tour gives you the opportunity to experience what life is like for people living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia by temporarily adjusting how you see, hear, feel and interact with the world around you. Its goal is to increase your understanding and sensitivity to their limitations and to improve your communication, patience and care.

The 10-minute tours will take place April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the alley between Langford Auditorium and Eskind Library, behind Light Hall.

The Virtual Dementia Tour is open to all Vanderbilt employees. Visit the online registration form to sign up for a 10-minute slot, and please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time. If you would like to discuss your experience and learn about resources for dementia patients and caregivers afterward, you should allow another 10 minutes.

While there is no deadline to register, space is limited. To be placed on a waitlist, contact Stacey Bonner by email or call (615) 936-1990.

A group debriefing about the Virtual Dementia Tour is scheduled April 21 from noon to 1 p.m. in Light Hall, room 416.
