Learning and connecting is the theme for StrategyShare17, an interactive event on Thursday, July 20, designed to showcase exciting work being done at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).

The afternoon event will feature “TED-style Talks,” Power Pitches, Poster Sharing and Mission Moments sharing personal stories about what it means to be a part of the Vanderbilt community.
The event at the Vanderbilt Student Life Center is open to the VUMC community. Participants will be asked to make intentional connections with other attendees from outside their work area and to share something they learn from the event with others who cannot attend.

Registration is limited, but the event will be live-streamed for virtual attendance. Twitter users may also follow the conversation at #StrategyShare17. Visit the Strategic Directions website for more information and to register.

StrategyShare17 will kick off with informal networking at 12:30 p.m. followed at 1 p.m. by a set of short, high-energy presentations inspired by the popular TED Talks series.

Next will be “Power Pitches” of innovative ideas and projects with an opportunity for individuals to identify those in which they would like to participate.

A poster session will feature groups and individuals sharing ways in which their work is advancing VUMC’s “Strategic Directions” — Design for Patients and Families; Discover, Learn and Share, Make Diversity and Inclusion Intentional; and Amplify Innovation.

Interspersed throughout the day will be “mission moments” — personal stories of what it means to be a part of the VUMC community. The day will end with an open microphone session and a reception.

StrategyShare17 is an initiative of the VUMC Strategic Directions team, which is led by Reed Omary, M.D., M.S., chair of the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, and Jennifer Pietenpol, Ph.D., Executive Vice President for Research and director of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, with the support of William Stead, M.D., Chief Strategy Officer for VUMC.
