Thousands of spectators gathered for the 77th running of the Iroquois Steeplechase May 12 at Percy Warner Park. Since designating Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt as its official charity in 1981, the Steeplechase has contributed more than $10 million to the hospital.

Among the crowd was Steeplechase child ambassador Brooks Russell, who posed for a photo with his parents, Cody and Kari, and sisters, Finnley, left, and Riley. Brooks has been a patient at Children’s Hospital since he was diagnosed at age 4 with a brain tumor growing on his spinal cord.
