May. 10, 2016—When we made the announcement in late 2014 that Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center would become separate legal and financial entities, there were of course many questions. We’ve done our best to answer those questions, and many more, and to keep everyone informed as we’ve worked to make this reorganization largely a “non-event” for as many of our people as possible.
Apr. 30, 2016—Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is now operating as a fully independent, nonprofit entity, following the completion of the legal transaction on April 30 that separated it legally and financially from Vanderbilt University. The transition positions VUMC for future growth and investment, while preserving its tightly woven connections to the University in research and teaching.

Sep. 11, 2015—The Faculty Senate is organizing an Oct. 30 town hall to answer faculty questions about the transition of the university and Vanderbilt University Medical Center to separate entities.

Jun. 25, 2015—As Vanderbilt continues to prepare for the legal and financial separation of the university and future independent Vanderbilt University Medical Center, some departments will participate in a “dress rehearsal” for the future separation beginning July 1.
May. 26, 2015—The financial reorganization and separation of Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center into separate nonprofit entities remains on schedule to occur in early 2016.
