Rosenbloom appointed to National Library of Medicine’s Biomedical Informatics, Library and Data Sciences Review Committee

Trent Rosenbloom, MD, MPH, professor and vice chair of Faculty Affairs in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, has been appointed to the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) Biomedical Informatics, Library and Data Sciences (BILDS) Review Committee.

Trent Rosenbloom, MD, MPH, professor and vice chair of Faculty Affairs in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, has been appointed to the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) Biomedical Informatics, Library and Data Sciences (BILDS) Review Committee. His term will take place from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2025.

Rosenbloom has served on study sections throughout his career, including for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, The NLM, the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense.

“Serving for BILDS is a great way to see some of the most important emerging science in the field of informatics. I am really excited to begin,” said Rosenbloom, who is also director of My Health at Vanderbilt and professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

The NLM BILDS committee is the leading study section for the National Library of Medicine. The committee reviews research applications prior to being approved for funding. Members are leading scientists from around the country, responsible for providing first-level reviewal of grant applications and ensuring that they are evaluated closely with the appropriate expertise.

According to the NLM, the decisions of the committee inform the institution’s selection for which grant applications receive funding, which directly impacts the field of biomedical informatics and data science research.

Members of the BILDS committee are chosen for their individual expertise, academic ranking, research background, experience with peer review processes and more.
