May. 26, 2017—Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC), in collaboration with the Hereditary Cancer Program and the Vanderbilt Breast Center, is hosting a free seminar, “Are You at High Risk for Breast Cancer?”
May. 2, 2017—Nilda Peragallo Montano, dean of the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will speak on culturally appropriate ways for practitioners and researchers to reach out to and work with Latino subjects. The lecture will be Thursday, May 11, at 2 p.m. in Godchaux Nursing Annex, Room 161.
Mar. 24, 2017—A memorial service for Professor Vivien Casagrande is planned for April 12 in Benton Chapel.
Mar. 23, 2017—The Meharry Medical College, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) and Tennessee State University (TSU) Cancer Partnership will host its 16th Annual Cancer Retreat on April 8.
Jan. 11, 2017—Douglas R. Lowy, acting director of the National Cancer Institute, will deliver the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center George Daniel Brooks Lecture at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. in Light Hall, Room 208. The title of the presentation is “Preventing HPV-associated Cancers: Short-term and Long-term Approaches.”
Dec. 12, 2016—Hear the deputy surgeon general of the United States, Rear Adm. Sylvia Trent-Adams, on Monday, Jan. 9, at 3 p.m. in Room 155 of the Godchaux Nursing Annex. Her talk is part of the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing Dean’s Diversity Lecture Series.
Dec. 7, 2016—David Gordon, dean of the University of Akron College of Health Professions, will speak from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in conjunction with the 2017 Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Series at Vanderbilt.
Aug. 5, 2016—The 15th annual Levi Watkins Jr., M.D. Lecture will be held Oct. 11. This year marks 50 years since Watkins entered Vanderbilt University Medical School—a milestone in the life of the school that will be celebrated during this year’s event.
