Aug. 23, 2018—More than 5,000 people gathered for the Arrington Vineyards Harvest Party on Saturday, Aug. 11, to benefit Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The daylong event, now in its seventh year, featured wine tastings, food trucks and a concert by country music star Kix Brooks.
Jun. 14, 2018—Debra Friedman, MD, director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, has been awarded a $100,000 Hyundai Hope on Wheels Impact Award. The grant was celebrated in a “handprint ceremony” with Hyundai representatives on June 12.
Jun. 14, 2018—A group of young lung cancer patients and their family members recently toured research laboratories at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) to learn how investigators are working to find better therapies and possibly a cure for the disease.
Apr. 19, 2018—Current and former patients of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt walked the runway alongside professional models at the annual Friends & Fashion event at Music City Center April 9.
Apr. 12, 2018—Henry Paul and Dave Robbins, members of country music group BlackHawk, as well as southern rock band The Outlaws, recently donated $40,000 to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) in support of melanoma research. Since 2006, the band members have generated more than $100,000 for VICC.
Mar. 22, 2018—Multi-platinum entertainer and longtime supporter of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Dierks Bentley recently received the first star on the hospital’s newly created “Walk of Champions,” presented by Live Nation.
Mar. 15, 2018—Country music singers and friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Jake Owen and Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley, recently partnered with the new Topgolf Nashville location for the Children’s Cup, an evening of golf and music to benefit pediatric cancer research at Children’s Hospital.
