Study tests shorter antibiotic course in children
Dec. 1, 2016—Researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) are leading a multicenter clinical trial to evaluate whether a shorter course of antibiotics — five days instead of 10 — is effective at treating community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in children who show improvement after the first few days of taking antibiotics.

Assessment identifies community health risks, needs

Is someone in Rutherford County at greater risk to develop lung cancer than someone in Williamson County? What does the community believe are the greatest needs? Through the “Community Health Needs Assessment” (CHNA) process, Vanderbilt and other non-profit hospitals are attempting to answer these and other questions related to community health.
