VUMC center lands AOA professionalism award
Jul. 7, 2016—Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society has named the Vanderbilt Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy (CPPA) as the sole recipient of the 2016 Edward D. Harris Professionalism Award.
VKC, state team to expand services for children with autism
Jul. 7, 2016—The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) has awarded three training and technical assistance grants totaling $3.25 million to Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) to enhance statewide services for children with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities from birth to kindergarten.

VUMC chosen for leadership role in NIH Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program
Jul. 7, 2016—Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has been chosen by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to be the Data and Research Support Center for the Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program, a landmark study of genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors affecting the health of a million or more people, federal officials have announced.
VICC researchers to study reasons for high breast cancer incidence and mortality rates among African-American women
Jul. 6, 2016—A cancer research consortium headed by investigators at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and two other institutions have received $12 million in federal funding to help determine why African-American women die at a higher rate and have more aggressive breast cancer than white women.
Erlanger Health System, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network announce agreements

Vanderbilt establishes Recruitment Innovation Center to increase enrollment of minorities, women and older adults in clinical trials
Jul. 5, 2016—Many clinical trials are stopped prematurely because they fail to recruit enough study participants. Vanderbilt University Medical Center has received a five-year, $14 million grant from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences at the National Institutes of Health to address this.
New NIH-funded center to study inefficiencies in clinical trials
Jul. 5, 2016—Researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Duke Clinical Research Institute have received a major federal grant to study how multisite clinical trials of new drugs and therapies in children and adults can be conducted more rapidly and efficiently.
