Sternberg to step down after two decades at Vanderbilt
Aug. 16, 2022—Paul Sternberg Jr., MD, is stepping down from his role as chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and director of the Vanderbilt Eye Institute, effective June 30, 2023.
Rehm named associate chief medical officer for Children’s Services
Dec. 3, 2020—Kris Rehm, MD, MMHC, professor of Clinical Pediatrics and vice chair in the Department of Pediatrics, has been appointed associate chief medical officer for Children’s Services for the Vanderbilt Medical Group (VMG).

Adult Primary Care clinics receive recognition for quality
Apr. 30, 2020—The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recently announced that all Vanderbilt Medical Group (VMG) adult primary care practices have received NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition for using evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on coordinated care with the goal of improving outcomes.
Posch named associate vice chancellor for Population Health
Jun. 30, 2015—David Posch, CEO of Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital and Clinics and executive director for the Vanderbilt Medical Group, has been named to the newly created position of associate vice chancellor for Population Health.
Russell to direct care in Williamson, Maury counties
May. 29, 2014—Henry Paul (Hank) Russell, M.D., assistant professor of Clinical Surgery and a general and thoracic surgeon at Vanderbilt Medical Group in Williamson County since 1986, has been named medical director of Vanderbilt Health – Williamson/Maury. He replaces Pete Powell, M.D., who has held the position since 2004.
Text appointment reminders generate high response rates
Mar. 27, 2014—For years, Vanderbilt Medical Group has used robocalls to remind patients of upcoming appointments. The reminders are triggered four days out, and VMG is able to refill approximately 60 percent of all cancellations that occur at this four-day mark. Cancellations account for approximately 7 percent of all patient responses to these appointment reminders.
NCS golf tournament raises $15,000 for Children’s Hospital
Nov. 19, 2012—The Ninth Annual Network Computing Services Golf Tournament was held Sept. 27 at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. This year’s event raised $15,000 to support pediatric cancer research.
