The Vanderbilt Faculty Manual is being revised to reflect changes to some titles and processes related to the pending transition of the university and Vanderbilt University Medical Center into two separate legal and financial entities. There will continue to be one Faculty Manual that governs every faculty member’s relationship with Vanderbilt, regardless of whether faculty are employed by Vanderbilt University and/or VUMC.
The proposed revisions are available now to faculty for review and comment. The Faculty Senate’s Faculty Manual Committee is studying these proposals.
Review the proposed revisions
The revisions are available on the Senate Portal on the Faculty Senate website. Faculty will be prompted to enter their VUNetID and ePassword to enter the portal. The manual with revisions noted is titled “PROPOSED REVISIONS TO FACULTY MANUAL.pdf.” (The portal is accessible to faculty only.)
Comment on the proposed revisions
The comment period is open from Aug. 18 to Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. To provide comments, log in to the Senate Portal. A survey is posted on the portal titled “FACULTY MANUAL COMMENTS.” Faculty may supply free-text comments for any section or sections of the Faculty Manual. All comments are anonymous.
Future senate actions
The Faculty Senate will take up the proposed revisions to the Faculty Manual for discussion and vote in its meetings on Oct. 8 and Nov. 5. Motions regarding these and other proposed revisions will be announced and available in advance of the meetings. Both meetings are scheduled from 4:10 to 5:30 p.m. in Frist Hall, Room 140, and are open to all faculty.
