Michael Froehler, MD, PhD, associate professor of Neurology, Neurological Surgery and Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has been elected a member of the board of directors of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery (SNIS).
As a board member, he’ll take a leadership role in representing SNIS and supporting the society’s ongoing educational and policy initiatives related to advancing diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the brain, spine, head and neck.
Froehler obtained his MD from the University of Rochester, where he also earned a PhD in neuroscience. He completed an internship and residency in neurology at Johns Hopkins, moving to UCLA for fellowship training in vascular neurology and interventional neuroradiology. He joined Vanderbilt in 2013.
As a neuro interventionalist and stroke neurologist, Froehler cares for patients with brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformation, arterial narrowing in the head and neck, and related cerebrovascular diseases. He is the VUMC principal investigator for StrokeNet, a national network for clinical research in cerebrovascular disease.
