The song “Times Like This” by singer-songwriters Mat Kearney and Devon Gilfillian, who dedicated the tune to the workforce of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is now available to stream anywhere you get music.
The song, which closed out last week’s virtual Leadership Assembly, was inspired by the messages of hope, thanks and gratitude on the Gratitude Tree in Vanderbilt University Hospital during the 2021 holiday season. The digital tree was VUMC’s first digital art installation and honored the more than 28,000 doctors, nurses and staff, while also celebrating the lives saved and honoring those lost in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.

Nashville-based artists Kearney and Gilfillian composed a mellow track blending sounds of pop and R&B and combined it with lyrics inspired by the community outpour of gratitude to produce “Times Like This.” The song is meant to shine a light on those in the healthcare industry who have bravely endured a strenuous two years.
