Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is one of only 25 children’s hospitals to make Money/The Leapfrog Group’s first-ever “Best Hospitals for Pediatrics” list and is the only pediatric hospital in Tennessee to earn the distinction.
“This first-of-its-kind recognition by both Money and The Leapfrog Group honors the hard work of the outstanding physicians, nurses and staff of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt for their support of our most vulnerable patients. I want to congratulate everyone for the selfless teamwork leading to this award,” said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health System Officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
This recent accolade is in addition to Monroe Carell being named a Leapfrog Top Hospital in December 2022, and among the nation’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report in June 2022.
“We are honored to be recognized as one of the “Best Hospitals for Pediatrics” by Money and The Leapfrog Group. This honor is a testament to our staff’s commitment to delivering the highest quality and safest care for children as we strive to make health care personal for each patient and family at Monroe Carell,” said Carrie Menser, MD, executive medical director of Quality & Safety and holder of the Trudy and Bill Carpenter Directorship for Patient Safety & Quality at Monroe Carell.
Among the quality and safety metrics considered for the “Best Hospitals for Pediatrics” list are hospitals’ data on hand hygiene, medication administration, ICU physician staffing and never events (an occurrence in the medical field that should ‘never happen’).The full methodology for the list can be viewed online.
“The staff at Monroe Carell continuously provide the highest quality and safest care to our patients. This acknowledgement as a 2023 “Best Hospital for Pediatrics” is extremely impactful to our staff as well as the families we serve,” said Autumne Harding, APRN, MSN, CPPS, PCNS-BC, the hospital’s senior director for Performance, Management and Improvement.
The Leapfrog Group is a nonprofit organization that aims to help consumers make informed decisions about their health and access safe, high-value care. For over two decades, it has collected and published data on patient safety and quality of care from voluntary surveys and other sources.
