Healthiest Employers, a national award program, has named Vanderbilt University Medical Center one of the Healthiest Employers in Tennessee in the category for organizations with more than 10,000 employees.
As a state finalist, this means that VUMC is also in the running for the Healthiest Workplaces in America award; winners will be announced in October.
VUMC was nominated for the award with the assistance of Health Plus, the Medical Center faculty/staff health promotion program.
“Just as our employees care for the well-being of our patients and their families, it is so important that we also invest in the well-being of our employees, and Health & Wellness is proud to support our VUMC workforce,” said Lori Rolando, MD, MPH, executive director of Vanderbilt Health and Wellness.
“This recognition is truly an honor that reflects the amazing work done by so many at all levels to champion these efforts. We are thankful to all of those who engage in these programs and especially to senior leadership for their ongoing support for these initiatives.”
Brad Awalt, manager of Health Plus, agreed: “We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the Healthiest Employers in Tennessee. Thank you to our leadership for supporting us in having a variety of resources and programs to help employees with their health and well-being. A big kudos goes out to our community for accessing those resources and taking an active role in their health,” he said.
