Leadership Middle Tennessee joins with VUMC and many others to organize relief drive for victims of Hurricane Helene

Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, the Leadership Middle Tennessee (LMT) Class of 2025 raised $20,000 and collected 50 pallets worth of supplies for affected East Tennessee communities.

LMT, a regional leadership program, brings together outstanding leaders who live and/or work in Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson, and Wilson counties to study issues affecting Middle Tennessee from a regional perspective and work together to strengthen their collective impact in the region.

In addition to monthly programs in one of 10 Middle Tennessee counties, each class leads a service project during their year-long program.

After seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, the LMT Class of 2025 dedicated their service project to help impacted communities in East Tennessee.

“When presented with the opportunity to serve our neighbors in East Tennessee, the LMT Class of 2025 answered the call to action with compassion, enthusiasm and servant leadership,” said LMT Class of 2025 President Pat Lawson. “The decision by our class to serve hurricane survivors demonstrates LMT’s focus on community impact, in Middle Tennessee and beyond.”

Over 25 days, the LMT class of 2025 collected 50 pallets worth of supplies including blankets, clothing, medical supplies, and propane filling two tractor trailer loads in coordination with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), Tennessee Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (TN VOAD) and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

The class also raised $20,000 to go towards the relief effort.
