The next Bedside Matters, an hourlong, monthly rounds geared toward helping all Vanderbilt University Medical Center health care providers deal with the social and emotional issues of caring for patients and families, will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
The brown bag lunch event, held in 214 Light Hall from noon to 1 p.m., will focus on pediatric end-of-life challenges.
The forum will include a case review of a 2-year-old oncology patient with a prolonged dying process in the hospital. The interdisciplinary team, including nursing, pastoral services, EAP, palliative care, oncology and Child Life, will discuss the emotional difficulties faced when caring for the patient and his family.
The free event is open to VUMC staff, faculty and students. No registration is required. CME, CEU and Contact Hours will be offered.
