The Center for Advanced Mobile Healthcare Learning (CAMHL) will sponsor monthly hour-long “clinics” targeting clinicians and educators who are interested in using technology-enhanced micro-learning approaches to address knowledge and performance gaps in the workplace. CAMHL Clinics will be held virtually on the third Thursday of every month at 4:30 pm, beginning on June 16.
Each CAMHL Clinic will begin with a short presentation on topics such as micro-learning, test-enhanced learning, and learning technologies, with a focus on how these can be used to enhance patient care or to achieve other important outcomes. Participants will also be able to present their own projects in any stage of development, with course faculty and other participants providing immediate feedback and suggestions. Goal: The CAMHL Clinic’s overarching goal is to support participants as they design and implement projects that will have measurable outcomes and will be suitable for scholarly publication and presentation.
Course Objectives:
- Discuss the characteristics of health professions education activities that have been shown to be most effective in bringing about intended practices changes that will in turn lead to improved quality of care and patient outcomes.
- Explain the learning theories that support the use of workplace microlearning approaches.
- Design microlearning/workplace learning activities that aim to address an identified practice gap and take into consideration the practice setting, target learner groups, and systems level factors that might facilitate or impede change.
- Employ electronic learning technologies in delivering microlearning/workplace learning activities.
- Develop evaluation and assessment strategies that demonstrate the impact of learning interventions on individual learner competencies (knowledge, skills, attitudes), team competencies, practice behaviors, and/or clinical outcomes.
