Community Survey kicks off March 10
The Vanderbilt Community Survey, which gauges employee satisfaction, will be conducted March 10 – 28.
“We are committed to making this one of the very best places to work in the country. And to do that we need to hear from you — and not just some of you — we want to hear from everyone,” said Harry Jacobson, M.D., vice chancellor for Health Affairs, in a Feb. 26 e-mail announcement to staff and faculty.
“We've asked all of our managers and supervisors to ensure their team has the time and resources to complete the survey.”
In past surveys, employees signaled that VUMC could do better at sharing financial successes with staff, and that led to year-end “success sharing” salary bonuses in each of the last four years. Medical Center employees have also signaled for more help to balance their work with other commitments, and this led to an adoption benefit, a free VUMC errand service (Vanderbilt Valet), and an alternative work arrangements policy covering flexible work scheduling, job sharing and telecommuting.
VUMC departments and work groups use survey results as a starting point for more localized employee satisfaction improvement efforts.
Staff and faculty will again have the option of filling out the survey online or on paper. As always, the identity of respondents is kept strictly confidential by the survey vendor.
