Grants support novel medical teaching ideas
Eight Vanderbilt University School of Medicine faculty members recently received funding to develop innovative teaching and learning concepts through the Great Ideas in Vanderbilt Medical Education (GIVME) program, sponsored by VUSM, the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education and the Office for Teaching and Learning in Medicine.
Winning 2008 projects are:

• “Randomized Trial to Evaluate Cardiac Auscultation Teaching Methods” — G. Waldon Garriss, M.D. (Internal Medicine / Pediatrics)
• “Pediatric Palliative Care Instruction for House Staff” — Brian Carter, M.D., and Rebecca Swan, M.D. (Pediatrics / Neonatology)
