AAMC tabs Gabbe for executive council
Steven Gabbe, M.D., dean of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, has been elected to a three-year term as a representative on the executive council of the Council of Deans. Gabbe was tapped for the honor by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) Council of Deans, where he serves on the council's Administrative Board.
The AAMC executive council is composed of six U.S. medical school deans and is vital to the nonprofit's administration.
“The AAMC plays a dynamic role in strengthening academic medicine,” Gabbe said. “It's an honor to be chosen by my peers to take part in its leadership.”
The AAMC represents medical schools, teaching hospitals, and medical school faculty, residents and students with the goal of improving health through education, research, and high-quality patient care. It is responsible for the Medical School Admissions Test (MCAT).
