Posch’s VMG, TVC responsibilities grow
David Posch, chief operating officer of Vanderbilt Medical Group, has been named CEO of The Vanderbilt Clinic and executive director of VMG.
The appointment becomes official Jan. 1.
“We're looking forward to what this latest adjustment to the executive team will bring,” said Harry Jacobson, M.D., vice chancellor for Health Affairs.
“Dave has done a fine job as chief operating officer for VMG and TVC. Now he'll be able to step back from day-to-day responsibility for clinic operations, and instead devote more effort to our patient business strategy, performance outcomes and the development needs of our institutes and patient care centers. I'm very pleased to welcome David into this new role.”
Posch will continue to report to C. Wright Pinson, M.D., M.B.A., associate vice chancellor for Clinical Affairs and chief medical officer, and will continue to work under the oversight of the VMG executive committee.
“The VMG had 1,054,084 patient visits in fiscal 2006, which is nearly double the volume of seven years ago when David arrived as the Medical Group's COO,” Pinson said. “We're growing and we're becoming a more complex organization. We need to expand the clinic management team to handle the larger patient load and increased staff.
“Also, David's role with VMG has over the years evolved more and more toward business strategy and development,” Pinson said. “His contributions to VMG and to Vanderbilt are estimable, and this new role should allow even greater play for David's energy and particular talents. We have every confidence in David's ability and counsel, and look forward to his continued contributions.”

A national search is under way for a new TVC/VMG chief operating officer.
