Series of sessions set to shed light on StarPanel
To inform Vanderbilt Medical Group physicians and nurse practitioners about the Medical Center's advanced electronic medical record application, StarPanel, and how it can assist them in their work, VMG is starting a series of monthly sessions in the early evenings especially for these faculty health care providers.
The first session, “Navigating the Complex World of StarPanel,” will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in 202 Light Hall.
A complimentary buffet dinner will be provided. (To assure there will be sufficient food, faculty who plan to attend should send an e-mail to Jan Gressman in VMG administration at jan.gressman@vanderbilt.edu.)
StarPanel is an electronic medical records application developed at Vanderbilt to aid patient safety, chronic disease management, coordination of the patient care team, quicker patient care documentation and more efficient ways of working in the clinic. Administrators estimate that 30 percent to 35 percent of faculty health care providers don't yet use the application.
Hosts for the monthly series are Assistant Chief Medical Officer Jim Jirjis, M.D., and Laura Montgomery, director of clinic redesign and the Electronic Medical Records Team. Future topics include use of computers with patients in the exam room and options for physician documentation of patient care.
