Connie Graves, M.D., and Virginia Shepherd, Ph.D., were presented the Levi Watkins Jr. Award at last week's Fourth Annual Levi Watkins Jr. Lecture on Diversity in Medical Education.
The award honors contributions in fostering opportunities for underrepresented minorities in education and research.
Graves is associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Shepherd is professor of Pathology and director of the Center for Science Outreach.
“These two individuals are most deserving, particularly given the outstanding candidates who were nominated by faculty and staff,” said George Hill, Ph.D., Levi Watkins Jr. Professor and associate dean for Diversity in Medical Education.
