Dr. Harry R. Jacobson, vice chancellor for Health Affairs, has been named president-elect of the Society of Medical Administrators. The appointment was announced at the January meeting of the society in Boca Raton, Fla.
Jacobson, also currently the treasurer of the Society, will assume the presidency of the organization in 2005.
“I am honored to be chosen to lead such a prestigious medical organization,” Jacobson said. “Some of the country’s most highly regarded medical administrators are members of the Society.”
The Society of Medical Administrators began in 1909 as a small group of 12 medical superintendents who met informally once a year to discuss hospital affairs. Today approximately 100 medical administrators are part of the organization.
