This has been a week of celebrating the career of Jewel Kavanaugh, who is retiring at the end of this month after 40 years at the Vanderbilt Employees’ Credit Union.
Monday and Tuesday were daylong open house thank-you parties at the credit union offices in the Oxford House, followed by a Wednesday afternoon reception in her honor at the University Club.
The Vanderbilt Employees’ Credit Union was formed in 1959 and Kavanaugh began working there three years later as its bookkeeper. She became its director in 1970.
“When I walk out this door on Aug. 30, I will have no regrets,” she said. “I have done all I can do to help people.”
