Vanderbilt University, EBM Solutions, the IPA Association of America and HealthLeaders will bring together the most innovative and groundbreaking applications of evidence-based medicine by hospitals, health plans and employer groups at the inaugural Summit on Evidence-Based Medicine.
The event takes place May 18-19 at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The recent release of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) report “Crossing the Quality Chasm,” the Dartmouth Atlas and other noted reports and articles have drawn attention to the growing gap between best practice and current practice. In its report, the IOM noted several important challenges in improving the care of Americans. These included making patients the source of control for their health care, assisting evidence-based decision-making, and optimizing the use of technology in improving quality of care.
The summit will highlight innovative applications of evidence-based medicine by purchasers, providers and payers. It will also review technology and internet-based tools and approaches. Finally, the summit will explore the power and potential of coordinated physician and patient centered dissemination and implementation strategies.
