Ethics program to take hard look inward, at VUMC
At next week's Ethics Spring Grand Rounds the gloves, figuratively speaking, will be off.
There, members of VUMC's leadership team will be on hand to answer numerous questions about the medical center and its people, programs, procedures, performance and growth strategies — all from an ethics perspective.
The panel discussion, titled "Medical Center Ethics: An Oxymoron? Tough Questions for a Panel of Experts," will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 4, in 208 Light Hall.
Dr. Frank H. Boehm, professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and chair of the VUMC Ethics Committee, will serve as moderator of the discussion.
He'll lob a wide variety of thorny ethical questions to the panel, scheduled to include Dr. Harry R. Jacobson, vice chancellor for Health Affairs; Mark L. Penkhus, chief executive officer of Vanderbilt University Hospital; Dr. John S. Sergent, chief medical officer of Vanderbilt Medical Group; Dr. Deborah C. German, senior associate dean of Medical Education; and Richard M. Zaner, Ph.D., Ann Geddes Stahlman Professor of Medical Ethics and director of the Center for Clinical and Research Ethics.
A complimentary lunch will be served, beginning at 11:15 a.m.
