Deadly deli meats, at-home syphilis tests, dangers of DIY dental work, plus other news stories with VUMC sources

There are TikTok videos in which people demonstrate filing their own teeth in an effort to make them more even. Really. Aaron Brinen, PsyD, assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, was interviewed by WKRN News 2 reporter, Kori Johnson, to discuss mental health aspects of social media and how trends, such as dubious DIY teeth-filing, influence some people.

Amy C. Harrison, MSN, RN, president of Vanderbilt Home Care Services, was interviewed by Becker’s Hospital Review assistant editor Naomi Diaz to discuss Vanderbilt Home Care’s transition to the same electronic health record (EHR) system used by VUMC and what the benefits are for patients and providers. 

Medpage Today reporter Tara Haelle interviewed B. Gisella Carranza Leon, MD, associate professor of Medicine and medical director of the Vanderbilt Eskind Diabetes Clinic, for a story about a new study on plozasiran for managing persistent chylomicronemia and pancreatitis risk.
