A new way of sharing health education with patients, called Krames on FHIR, arrives Dec. 16

Arriving Dec. 16, Krames on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource) will help make assigning education resources to patients and their caregivers easier, faster and more specific for team members across the health system.

Building on our existing Krames patient education platform that has been part of Vanderbilt Health since 2013, Krames on FHIR offers new ways for clinicians and other members of care teams to share educational materials with patients.

Employees can expect several benefits as part of the move to Krames on FHIR, including:

  • New ways to share all our already existing education without leaving eStar, including material that has historically only been available in eDocs.
  • The ability to send education to patients during any type of clinical encounter, and at any time.
  • A simple, intuitive dashboard in eStar that recommends education based on patient’s age, preferred language in eStar, as well as their current and active unresolved conditions.
  • Real-time, up-to-date access to a real-time, constantly updated and robust patient education library that includes approximately 3,000 drug sheets, 9,000 education sheets and 2,500 videos, in addition to Vanderbilt custom materials that were developed through the Patient Education and Health Literacy Department.
  • The ability to send PDF documents and videos to My Health at Vanderbilt, where patients can read and watch them directly in the patient portal on any device that supports MHAV.
  • All new ways to search for health education.

Employees can prepare for the transition by watching a video in the Learning Exchange, and revuiewing the Quick Start Guide and Tip Sheet that are available within Hubbl.
