Kàri Stefànnson, M.D., Dr. Med., will deliver the next Discovery Lecture, “Sequence variants associating with the risk of common diseases,” at 4 p.m. on Jan. 22 in 208 Light Hall.
Stefànsson is the co-founder and chairman of the board of directors of deCODE Genetics, a biopharmaceutical company founded to identify human genes associated with common diseases and to apply those discoveries to the development of drugs and diagnostics.
Stefànsson was listed among Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World in 2007.
The lecture is sponsored by the Center for Human Genetics Research and the Oates Institute for Experimental Therapeutics.
