Jessica Howard has been named editor of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Reporter.
Howard is replacing Jon Coomer, who is leaving Vanderbilt after three years of editing the news publication to accept a position at The Pennsylvania State University.
Howard has spent the past two years as the assistant editor of the Vanderbilt Register, the paper of record for the Vanderbilt community. During her tenure at the Register, she was recognized with awards from several writing contests including competitions sponsored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the International Association of Business Communicators. Howard earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
“Jessica is a talented, multifaceted journalist who will flourish in her new leadership role at the Medical Center,” said Bill Hance, director of the Division of News and Public Affairs at the Medical Center. "The Reporter is the Medical Center's weekly news publication that has gained the respect of hundreds of local physicians, faculty and staff members, and I suspect, with Jessica's expertise, it will continue to do so.”
