Meeting to outline process for accessing BioVU databank

Meeting to outline process for accessing BioVU databank

The meeting will be held twice, at 9 a.m. and again at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 17, in 512 Light Hall.

The BioVU DNA databank has been collecting samples of DNA, linked with de-identified medical records from Vanderbilt patients for nearly three years. Some 70,000 samples are now being stored, with links to a complex computerized data storage system.

The databank provides a unique library of genetic information linked with the medical phenotype of the patient the sample belongs to. Researchers call this linking of genotype samples to clinical phenotype in a large library a “treasure trove” of information.
