News and Public Affairs staffers Clinton Colmenares and Dana Johnson recently won an Affirmative Action and Diversity Initiatives Award from the Opportunity Development Center.
The awards are given to people who help create a more diverse-friendly work environment by promoting diversity.
Colmenares and Johnson collaborated to produce a two-part series that appeared in the Jan. 12 issue of the Reporter about the extremely high level of conscientious care doctors and nurses in the Burn Unit gave to Jeremy Johnson, a severely burned patient who could not receive blood transfusions because of his religious convictions.
Chancellor Gordon Gee presented the award at a reception to honor the recipients.
