Don Moore, Ph.D., director of the Division of Continuing Medical Education, Bonnie Miller, M.D., associate dean for Medical Students and Gerald Gotterer, M.D., Ph.D., senior associate dean for Faculty and Academic Administrative Affairs, presented a workshop at the recent annual meeting of the Association of American Medical Colleges in Boston.
Through the workshop, “Professionalism in Medical Education: Curricular Change or Cultural Change?” Moore, Miller and Gotterer helped approximately 25 attendees define the culture of medicine and professionalism.
“It was an amazing session,” Moore said. “The participants jumped in and were engaged. They took the issue seriously and were able to discuss strategies for dealing with the hidden curriculum and its impact on the efforts of medical students to develop professionalism.”
