Mayhew Koellein, a photographer in the Medical Art Group, takes Beth Riviello's picture for the first-year medical school class composite. Koellein has taken these portraits for 42 years. He began at Vanderbilt in 1960 and has taken more than 4,000 students' composite photos on their first day of medical school, as well as their last photo as they receive their diplomas at graduation.
