Vanderbilt earned a 2014 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles Award for the second year in a row.

The business group, a nonprofit association of nearly 400 large employers, seeks to recognize employers for their ongoing commitment to promoting healthy work environments and encouraging workers to live healthier lifestyles.

Vanderbilt was recognized in the Gold category, which is for organizations “making cultural and environmental changes and developing comprehensive programs that support employees’ healthy lifestyle goals.”

“Vanderbilt’s Faculty/Staff Health and Wellness programs are committed to maximizing productivity and well-being by advancing healthy lifestyle practices through Health Plus, elevating psychological resilience through Work/Life Connection and providing visionary health protection through the Occupational Health Clinic,” said Mary Yarbrough, M.D., MPH, executive director, Faculty and Staff Health and Wellness.

“Receiving the distinction of Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles for two years now only inspires me and my dedicated team to continue to deliver high quality and innovative health promotion and protection programming and services for employees.”

This is the second award Vanderbilt has received this year from the National Business Group on Health; in March Vanderbilt won the Innovation in Reducing Health Care Disparities Award.
