Sep. 18, 2014, 9:28 AM

Children with cancer and their families are invited to a special “Teammates for Survivors” event Saturday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Vanderbilt Student Recreation Center, 2700 Children’s Way.

The free childhood cancer event will educate childhood cancer survivors, their siblings and their families about physical fitness and nutrition. All cancer survivors, including those who have completed treatment and those still receiving treatment, are invited to participate. Each child will receive a T-shirt.

The family program will include games, crafts such as tie-dyeing T-shirts, nutrition stations and physical activity stations. Surprise giveaways, snacks and lunch will be provided and parking is free.

The event, sponsored by Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and the National Children’s Cancer Society, is in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Sept. 24 is the deadline for registration. For more information and to register, call 936-4238 or visit www.vanderbilthealth.com/cancercenterevents.
