The most recent Credo Award and Five Pillar Leader Award winners were announced Sept. 18 at the Clinical Enterprise Leadership Assembly at Langford Auditorium.
Titus Daniels, M.D., MPH, MMHC, vice chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Medicine, received the Five Pillar Leader Award, given for leadership in service, quality, growth/finance, innovation and the promotion of staff and faculty satisfaction and commitment.
Daniels’ nominating letter read, “He has an extraordinary ability to bring a sense of calm to tense discussions and refocus the group as needed to get the job done well. … It is hard to think of an individual who has had a greater impact on the productivity and effectiveness of Department of Medicine clinical faculty in the last few years.”
Credo Awards honor staff and faculty who exemplify the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Credo.
The latest award winners are: Wanda Pope, program coordinator for anatomical donations in the Office of Health Sciences Education; Thomas Wayman, R.N., a nurse at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital; and Gina Dudley, R.N., assistant manager of clinics in Shelbyville, Winchester and Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Pope provides communication and counseling for body donors, their family members and health care professionals, often at the time of death. Her nominating letter included this excerpt from a letter sent to Pope by a family member of a body donor: “I would like your director to know how helpful and comforting you were to us. God bless you for caring about others at a special time in their life.”
Dudley’s nominating letter stated that, “Gina is the role model for building relationships and has played an integral role in fostering, maintaining and supporting our corporate culture here at Vanderbilt Heart Murfreesboro.”
Wayman’s nominating letter stated that he is the face of electroconvulsive therapy service and “the glue that holds it together. We could not manage without him.”
