Dance Marathon‘s Kickoff Event—originally scheduled for Sept. 17 but postponed due to inclement weather—has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Branscomb Quad.
Dance Marathon is an annual student-led fundraising event for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The Kickoff Event is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff members to learn about Dance Marathon and its mission, meet the people involved, to play games and eat free food, and interact with some “Miracle Families”—families with children who have been, or are being, treated at Children’s Hospital.
The theme of the Kickoff Event is “FreeDoM,” and the first 50 people to complete three activities will win a free Dance Marathon tank top. The free event is hosted by Vanderbilt University Dance Marathon executive and committee members.
Dance Marathon itself—”The Big Event”—is set for Feb. 18, 2017. Last year the event raised a record-breaking $230,099, far surpassing its $200,000 goal. Learn more about Dance Marathon on its website.
