Recently, two Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) colleagues — Karen Hughart and Jerry Batte — were recognized with the LEAP Award, which honors people making extraordinary contributions to EpicLeap’s success. Hughart and Batte serve EpicLeap as Core Design Advisors (CDAs). CDAs are VUMC employees who contribute at least 50 percent of their time advising the EpicLeap team on functionality and workflow needs. A role unique among similar Epic implementations, CDAs represent both clinical and operational (i.e., patient access and revenue cycle) functions. In addition to Hughart and Batte, recent LEAP Award recipients have included Vicki Wahl, Barbara Meriweather, Joshua Kamradt, Rebecca Faith Austin and Sonia Padhye.
