Sarah Moore, director of Radiology Services, received the Five Pillar Leader Award at the December Clinical Enterprise Leadership Assembly, for her leadership in service, quality, employee engagement, growth and finance, and innovation — all of which support Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s service and operational excellence.
Five Pillar Leader Award, given quarterly, recognizes exceptional leaders who consistently model a balanced approach to leadership across the five pillars of excellence and the Credo: “We provide excellence in healthcare, research and education. We treat others as we wish to be treated. We continuously evaluate and improve our performance.” Recipients of the Five Pillar Leader Award receive an engraved award, $500 and a gift bag.
“Sarah is forward thinking, always willing to be innovative and to try new things if it means a better outcome for patients. Being efficient and getting things right is so important to Sarah, and working with her on quality projects is an absolute joy.”
Moore’s nomination letter in regards to her commitment to service in part read, “For Ms. Moore, service means doing everything in her capacity to positively impact everyone with whom she interacts.
“This is not something she does intentionally; nor is it something that she does in order to advance herself. It is simply the way she is. Her commitment to service, along with her honesty and generosity are the basic qualities that help her foster her successful relationships with those around her.”
Another part of the nomination letter went on to say, “Sarah is forward thinking, always willing to be innovative and to try new things if it means a better outcome for patients. Being efficient and getting things right is so important to Sarah, and working with her on quality projects is an absolute joy.”
Moore said she is motivated by her commitment to colleagues and to patients.
“This honor is deeply appreciated because it acknowledges the work of our entire team,” she said.
“Our imaging professionals compassionately provide integral care to patients. We often tell our staff that radiologic exams provide the roadmap for other care providers to assist in returning patients to a restored state of care. This award signifies the importance of our role in the continuum of care.”
To place a nomination for an Elevate Credo Award, Five Pillar Leader Award, or Team Award, visit the Elevate website to fill out a nomination form. Employees demonstrate credo behaviors when: they make those they serve the highest priority; respect privacy and confidentiality; communicate effectively; conduct themselves professionally; have a sense of ownership; and are committed to their colleagues. Elevate award nominations are accepted year round. If a nomination is received after the cut off for quarterly award selection, the nomination will be considered for the next quarter. VUMC Voice will post stories on each of the award winners in the weeks following their announcement.
