Nashville Heart Walk set for Nov. 6 at TSU

Vanderbilt is proud to again serve as the presenting sponsor for the Greater Nashville Heart Walk, set for Nov. 6 on the campus of Tennessee State University.

This year’s American Heart Association Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, Nov. 6, on the campus of Tennessee State University (TSU).

The Heart Walk is one of the AHA’s signature events to promote awareness aimed at preventing heart disease and stroke.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is proud to again serve as the presenting sponsor for the Heart Walk. While the event normally occurs on Vanderbilt’s campus, this year’s year’s Greater Nashville Heart Walk will take place on the campus of TSU so that VUMC can remain focused on treating the community during the pandemic.

The route for this year’s Heart Walk event will start and finish at TSU’s Hale Stadium (3500 John A. Merritt Blvd., Nashville), weaving across campus.

In an effort to practice social distancing guidelines and protect the safety of guests, the walk will have a rolling start time this year. This means participants will be able to arrive and start walking anytime between 8 and 11 a.m. As always, the walk will be a family-friendly community event open to everyone, so co-workers, friends and children are welcome.

Participation in the walk and support of the AHA fuels key efforts, including those of Vanderbilt scientists. Since 2014, the AHA has supported more than $17 million in groundbreaking research done at VUMC.

VUMC’s team captains, physicians, and executives have already raised more $30,000 in support of heart health. While there won’t be a special t-shirt for this year’s walk, feel free to wear any VUMC “spirit wear” to represent VUMC as a collective team.
