VUMC partners with the American Heart Association for Nutrition Security Food Drive

VUMC and the American Heart Association have partnered to tackle nutrition security in the Middle Tennessee area by launching the Nutrition Security Food Drive. Together we can help provide nutritious and heart healthy foods to the local food banks. Your donations will go further than simply providing the next meal.

People who face food insecurity are at higher risk for chronic diseases like high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, due in part to poor diet. Consistent access to adequate nutrition increases everyone’s ability to live a healthy and full life and can even reduce rick of or manage chronic disease.

Check the graphic for examples of heart healthy foods for donation.

Donation boxes are located in the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, the Courtyard Café, in Medical Center North Administration, The Vanderbilt Clinic entrance, and near Au Bon Pain. Donations will be accepted through the end of March.
