MyWorkday Change Network meeting focuses on supply chain changes

MyWorkday is VUMC’s enterprise-wide project to replace existing business systems and processes.

As the Medical Center continues to prepare for this fall’s go-live, more than 1,100 people met virtually March 31 to hear from project leaders in the second Change Network meeting. Those in the meeting hold important roles, some designated as department readiness leads and others as change agents. Both roles made up of leaders and staff who will learn about MyWorkday and pass information and support to their work areas.

The MyWorkday project at VUMC involves the implementation of two new cloud-based systems, Workday and Tecsys. Taken together, this extensive transition of dozens of VUMC business systems allows VUMC to update legacy systems. Large departments such as Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Research and Grants have software systems that need modernization.

The March 31 meeting focused on upcoming changes to the operation of VUMC Supply Chain. MyWorkday will lead to many current Supply Chain programs and processes being replaced or impacted. Among those will be eProcurement, Concur, and check requests and P-cards. Yolanda Redmond, Vice President of Supply Chain, and Karen Morlan, Vice President of Supply Chain Operations, shared how Workday and Tecsys will automate many manual processes.

While the MyWorkday project will touch in some way every employee of the Medical Center, a key point emphasized again was that information and training would be available to make sure that employees are knowledgeable and prepared for the changes.

In addition to the Change Network, information will be communicated in the form of the MyWorkday website, emails, town halls, training sessions and super users in each department to help with the transition. Videos featuring the MyWorkday spokescloud, MW, will be released every two weeks to highlight aspects of the project. These videos will be shared in MyVUMC and are available for viewing here.

The next Change Network meeting is set for April 28.
