Mobile devices with unsupported operating systems will be blocked in January

For mobile devices such as phones and tablets, the Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) VUMC policy states that only the two most current versions of iOS/iPadOS and four most current versions of Android are supported.

In December, VUMC IT will send an email notification to individuals with unsupported devices. In January 2023 unsupported devices will be blocked.

This process was integrated to align with Microsoft’s mobile application requirements and ensure that applications with access to VUMC content have the latest application security updates.

Google and Apple release new versions of their mobile operating systems yearly, typically in August and September, respectively. VUMC IT updates the minimum mobile OS version required for access a few months after the new versions release. This is an ongoing activity, so staying current on iOS and Android operating systems to protect VUMC data is important.
