“A Conversation with Jon Stewart on Advocacy” to be April 21

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine will host Jon Stewart, a comedian, advocate, host of Apple TV+’s The Problem with Jon Stewart, former host of The Daily Show. He will join in a conversation with Robert Miller, MD, Patricia and Rodes Hart Chair in Medicine, Walter Clair, MD, Vice Chair for Diversity and Inclusion, and Ayesha Muhammad, MD, VMS4, for the April Flexner Deans’ Lecture, “A Conversation with Jon Stewart on Advocacy.”

Stewart has a long history of health advocacy work. His support was instrumental in the passage of September 11th Victims Compensation Fund and the recent Honor our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022. The latter was supported by work done at VUMC, including by Miller and many members of the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology.

This lecture will be held in Langford Auditorium on Friday, April 21 at 5 p.m. Doors will open at 4 p.m.

  • Currently, the event is only open to trainees and faculty at Vanderbilt Schools of Medicine and Nursing, Meharry Medical College, VUMC and OHSE staff.
  • Eligible individuals can sign up, using their institutional email, for 1 free ticket per person on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The day of the event, you will be asked to provide your institutional ID and the ticket. You MUST have both to enter the auditorium.
