Rachel Lane Walden, a health sciences informationist at the Annette and Irwin Eskind Family Biomedical Library and Learning Center, has been named a 2023-2024 Medical Library Association Rising Star.
The program provides an opportunity for members to develop skills, knowledge, and personal characteristics needed to become a leader in the association. The leadership development program also matches each Rising Star with a mentor in a year-long curriculum that culminates with a project by the cohort.
Waldon has served in committee and leadership roles in the Tennessee Health Sciences Library Association and the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association.
“I am thrilled to have been selected as a Medical Library Association Rising Star and look forward to developing my leadership skills and expanding my knowledge in the field,” she said.
“I hope to learn from experienced mentors, engage in meaningful discussions, and contribute to current MLA initiatives. This program offers a unique opportunity to develop my leadership skills, expand my knowledge base, and build relationships with other professionals in the field.”
“We are honored to have Rachel represent the Eskind Biomedical Library and Vanderbilt University in this program”, said Eskind director Philip Walker.
