Simple Beginnings ceremony is Sept.1; donations accepted for white coats for students

“Simple Beginnings” is Vanderbilt University’s annual ceremony that welcomes each new class of doctoral students in the biomedical and biological sciences. This year’s ceremony, which is open to the Vanderbilt community, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, in Langford Auditorium.

The highlight of the ceremony, which is hosted by the Office of Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET), is the presentation of white lab coats to the students. A symbol of academic rigor and scientific excellence, the lab coats also reflect the students’ commitment to benefiting society through research and discovery.

The ceremony and lab coats are made possible through the generous donations of alumni, faculty, and other supporters. To donate a lab coat to an incoming student and give to the 2023 Simple Beginnings fund, follow this link — https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/bret/simple-beginnings/ — to the online giving form.
