In recognition of his excellence in pharmacy practice and contributions to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Grayson Peek, PharmD, MS, BCPS, FASHP, senior director of Adult Clinic Pharmacy Operations, has been given the title Fellow of ASHP.
ASHP is the largest association of pharmacy professionals in the United States. The 28-member 2024 Fellows were honored during a ceremony at the ASHP Pharmacy Futures meeting in Portland, Oregon, earlier this month.
“I am honored to be among those recognized in the 2024 class of Fellows of ASHP,” Peek said. “Throughout my career as a health-system pharmacist, ASHP has served as my professional home. Thank you to VUMC, my colleagues, mentors, family and friends for supporting my efforts to advance pharmaceutical care for all patients through this national organization.”
According to ASHP, the ASHP Practitioner Recognition Program, which has recognized 1,073 fellows since it began in 1988, taps members who have “successfully demonstrated sustained commitment or contributions to excellence in practice for at least 10 years, contributed to the total body of knowledge in the field, demonstrated active involvement and leadership in ASHP, and have been actively involved in and committed to educating practitioners and others.”
Mark Sullivan, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, FASHP, Chief Pharmacy Officer, says Peek has been a key driver of improvements with medication use in VUMC clinics since joining Vanderbilt from Duke University in 2018.
“He has leveraged his experience in pharmacy practice via a number of presentations, publications and certification offerings at ASHP and most recently chaired the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders advisory group on Business Development,” Sullivan said. “We are fortunate to have him on our team.”
